Many stores are taking part in stretching your stimulus check further
with added incentives. Meijers is offering a $30 off coupon with a
$300 gift card purchase. Kroger is offering $30 extra on a gift card
purchased for $300. KMart is doing the same.

Even Cedar Point is offering a stimulus deal, offering a family pack
of 4 adult tickets for only $132. I'm sure there are other small
businesses offering perks, such as no interest, no down payment, no
tax, etc if you use part or all of your stimulus check with them.

Will you take part in any of these deals?

There was a story on the news that credit card purchases went up in March.  At first the news came out "The consumer confidence must be rising since credit card purchases went up...."

Then soon after ".... the credit card purchases were up because people are using credit cards to buy gas and food"

So it seems to me most of the money will go to the credit cards to pay for gas and food.

Thats very true I know i have had to use it a few times for gas and food too but I got a meijers credit card and you get points for using the card I make my purchases with the card  but then the same week i also pay the balance on the card, ad with the gas there its the same way you use thier card and get 5 cents off a galon..

I know out big plans for th echeck if the bugger ever gets here is to buy a freezer and pay off some of hubbys medical bills, and hopefully stach a few hundred for a rainy day...or a moped, lol

No, my wife and I decided to pay off some bills and save the rest. We got the amount for 2 adults ($1200) and that works out to about $23.00 a week. Just about what we pay for the increase in fuel for our car. I did get a letter from the IRS explaining that it won't count as income for 2008, so no taxes on it.

I misspoke the other day. We did use the money to stimulate the local economy. We bought 2 new tires for our car. I thought it was a good deal-- $65.00 each. But I didn’t think about or expect the extra fees. The tires ended up costing almost $90.00 each. I think I am going to start doing that—

“Oh, you want that sculpture? That is a nice one, good choice. The price is 49.95 plus transportation fees, handling fees, storage fees, material fees, artistic fees and a fee for all the fees. Oh and the sales tax. Would that be check or cash? If it’s a check then there is a check fee, but with cash you get 5% off the price of the sculpture. Thank-you.”

Ha!
