The cost of fuel affects everything! Fertilizer and other supplies needed to grow food crops uses fuel for an ingredient and to move it to the fields and apply it. Then the crops need to be trucked to processing and to markets. All foods and fibers use fuels before we buy them. I see the fantastically high prices now for farm grown stuff and wonder if even those prices are covering the input cost for those crops. As a old farmer at heart I think farmers have always been took...when you work every hour of every day possible, do every thing the best you can, but one member of the farm family must work off the farm to earn the money to support the family.....farming has only supported the farm for too many years. I don't believe for a second the price is fair on fuel. It has been driven up by commodity markets and foriegn governments trying to drain off our money. Add the greedy oil people (what business has more profit?) We are being held hostage by the oil industry! The world can't continue on this path for long but I have no clue what will solve it or when or if it will ever end and get more sensible. For me, I sit on my porch, watch the birds and flowers, take some pictures, sip some iced water. My car sits in the garage until I must go somewhere. Using about two tank of gas a month now with getting a job closer to home. Stepping out to the porch again, Lisa

You know it does not help when people get a great idea of taking Corn to make fuel.
So the cost of Corn goes up, which is used to feed cows, so the cost of beef goes up, corn is used to feed chickens, so the cost of chicken and eggs go up.Now china is using rice to make fuel... guess what, the saga continues....

I think the bio-fuels have been one of those mistakes people will look back and say "what were we thinking, how come we did not realize the impact of food prices?"
