One of the best beachs has to be at Ludington State Park. You can stop on the way to the state park and pull off on the side of the road and get a part of a private beach. There was a ship wreck that was uncovered some years ago. Very beautiful place to visit.

Here is some info on the park.

Just north of Ludington, between the shores of Lake Michigan and Hamlin Lake, the park is a vacation within itself. Here, you can swim, climb a dune, walk along the beach, hike, bike, boat, fish, and relax...surrounded by endless scenery that’s varied and unique. Only the Ludington State Park has so many miles of Lake Michigan Beach and inland lake frontage to explore--plus a dam, dunes, river, forest, and a lighthouse! Visitors can tour the Big Sable Point Lighthouse May through October from 10am-6pm. The historic, 112 foot tower can be reached by walking north on the park’s beach for approximately 1.75 miles. While you enjoy a hike on one of the eight marked trails that cover over 16 miles, you’ll find a variety of trail markers and information kiosks along the way, which provide some fascinating historical and natural facts about the park. A description of the individual trails--and the estimated walking time for each--is detailed on the pages following this article

The impressive Skyline Trail, with its elevated wooden walkway, offers breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the sand dunes. Located near the Skyline Trail, the Great Lakes Visitor Center offers many informative displays and presentations on a variety of subjects--such as how the sand dunes were formed, or about the plants and animals living within the park. The Ludington State Park offers many special programs throughout the summer. Call the park at (231) 843-2423 for more information.

There is another light house down in the state park in Ludington. We took the tour of it and it was really nice to see. It is over a one mile walk from the parking area through the state park but worth the hike to check it out.
