So very very sad to get the phone call I took from my daughter this
morning..she had to move last summer and had to give up one of her
dogs Hemi a sweet loveable family dog , Hemi was white and spotted
and loved her kids very much...she went to stay with Grandpa Bear so
the kids still had a way to see thier dog on weekends and what
not..Bear being a single man , working and lived aline for many years
took hemi inand well she rules the roost in no time flat, when able
she went with Bear Fishing he got her a life jacket and Sun block, a
doggie seat belt, made sure she was current with all her vet needs
and put in an invisable fence so she had full run of the yard...They
shared a beautiful summer togather and all that came to an end last
night around midnight...Bear came home from work, like normal he let
her out to do her business showered and went to let her back in .. in
that time Some Ahole hit her and kept going...

well she didnt die, she crawled her way back to the porch as far as
she could to her Man who she knew loved her and she loved too for
help...
Bear sat with her four 4 hours at the vet emergency but the trama to
Hemi's head was to sevar to be able to save her...
May she rest in peace and have no boundries to play where she is now..

But what really burns my butt is HOW COULD ANYONE not stop and
check..or let the person know at least thier dog was hit????
How?? How heartless and crul to let a poor Dog suffer like she had
to ..

Given last night was stormy, sleet , rain , ice , black ice, and how
she got past the fence as well is all understandable. .we figured she
was chasing a rabbit and ran past the fence thats the only thing we
could think of as she never NORMALLY went even close to the boundies
set.

HOW COULD YOU NOT STOP???

There is a devasted family starting with Grand pa bear, then my
daughter and then her daughter who hasn't come home from school yet
to hear this horrid news that Hemi was killed and now will no longer
be able to play or sleep with the kids any more...
and then Grandma Kathy Bears x bt still friends her and her son
My family and my little one who i had to tell or try to tell through
teary eyes that Hemi won't be visiting anymore and told her the
details as much as i could a 5 year old...

As much as pits get a bad rep and i know they do, Hemi was nothing
but a loving, fun, playfull, GOOD, thought she was a lap dog, and
always looking for treat when i visited as she knew i normally always
had a little something in my pocket for her .
She will be missed by alot of her family and alot of thier friends.
At least she isn't in Pain now...
We loved ya girl...enjoy that Rainbow Bridge God has for you...

Hemi was hit on 76th street in Grand rapids about three blocks east
of Division...If you happen to know this heartless person who KILLED
her please send them this, you HAVE MY PERMISSION

That is just terrible. To think Hemi was trying to make it back home after that. I can tell you this made me feel very sad and angry at the same time. What a senseless fool to not even stop and try to help. I am very sorry for your loss.

thank you.. I think thats what got me too.. was the fact she made it so far in the condition she was in looking for help, if she had passed instantly it would have still hurt of course but just knowing she didnt and her struggle she had to do to drag herself however she did it back to the porch just makes me ache inside,, I know some people would say oh its just a dog.. but to anyone who has ever loved a pet they are family, they live with us side by side, they might have 4 legs instead of 2, but they love and feel pain and remorse just the same as we do

I am thankfull no one was hurt as that could also have happened with the weather and all the way it was, the person probably didnt have time to react any differently with the road conditions, but there is no way you can tell me they didnt know it happened..and that irks me to no end

In life we loved you dearly
In death we do the same
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone
For part of US went with you
The day God called you home
You left us lots of memories
Your love is still our guide
And though we cannot see you
You are always at our side
Our family chain is broken
And nothing is the same
But as God calls us one by one
The chain will link again
So, if tears could build a stairway
And memories a lane
We would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you both home again

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
